Traditionally Handmade Indus Licorice is nature’s most versatile “sweet root”—a soothing, grounding botanical that has been a staple of apathic powdery jars for centuries. Crafted from the sun-dried roots of the Glycyrrhiza glabra plant
The Artisanal Crafting Process
The soul of licorice lies in its woody fibers and natural sugars. Our traditional process ensures that the root’s delicate chemistry is never compromised:
Selective Root Harvesting: We use only mature roots that have reached their peak concentration of Glycyrrhizin (the natural compound that provides sweetness and medicinal power). These roots are harvested by hand to ensure the delicate “bark” remains intact.
Natural Earth-Cleaning & Sun-Drying: The roots are thoroughly washed with water—never chemical solvents—and then slow-dried under the sun. This traditional curing process allows the root to retain its creamy, pale-yellow interior while concentrating its natural sweetness and earthy depth.
Iron pounding: Licorice root is incredibly fibrous and tough. Industrial high-speed mills can overheat the fibers, causing the natural sugars to “caramelize” and turn bitter. We use a slow, cold-stone grinding method that preserves the root’s soft, velvety texture and its cooling, anti-inflammatory properties.
Sensory Experience & Flavor Profile
Appearance: A beautiful, pale-cream to sandy-yellow powder with a soft, almost fluffy texture. It is 100% free from starch fillers or brown-sugar adulterants, which are often used to darken and weight down commercial powders.
Aroma: Deeply comforting and sweet with subtle woody and anise-like undertones. Unlike synthetic “licorice” candy, the scent of the pure root is grounded, earthy, and fresh.
The Purity Standard (Zero Additives)
This Licorice Powder is a clean-label powerhouse for both internal wellness and external beauty:
No Added Sweeteners: Many brands add maltodextrin or dextrose to bulk up the powder. Our sweetness is 100% botanical, derived entirely from the root’s natural glycyrrhizic acid.
Zero Bleaching Agents: We never use sulfur or chlorine to “whiten” the powder. The color you see is the honest, natural hue of the processed root.
Whole-Root Integrity: We do not extract the “liquorice juice” first to sell to candy manufacturers. You receive the full-spectrum root, including all its fibers, minerals, and flavonoids.
